Launching early 2006, CHEC's new national media outreach campaign - Blue Butterfly - will educate millions of Americans across the country and motivate them to begin protecting children by taking the simple, yet critical, steps to a healthier environment. This program identifies the problems and encourages participants to adopt suggested science-based, easily attainable, solutions in their home, day care facilities, community centers, offices, and schools. CHEC continues in its efforts to help parents, teachers, medical personnel, governmental officials , and corporate leaders better understand the roles they must play to prevent environmentally induced diseases.
If Bud Abbott and Lou Costello were alive today, their infamous sketch, "Who's on First?" might have turned out something like this:

It's amazing how you can speak right to my heart Without saying a word you can light up the dark Try as I may I could never explain What I hear when you don't say a thing
The smile on your face lets me know that you need me There's a truth in your eyes sayin' you'll never leave me The touch of your hand says you'll catch me if ever I fall You say it best when you say nothing at all
All day long I can hear people talking out loud But when you hold me near, you drown out the crowd Old Mr. Webster could never define What's being said between your heart and mine
The smile on your face lets me know that you need me There's a truth in your eyes sayin' you'll never leave me The touch of your hand says you'll catch me if ever I fall You say it best when you say nothing at all
The smile on your face lets me know that you need me There's a truth in your eyes sayin' you'll never leave me The touch of your hand says you'll catch me if ever I fall You say it best when you say nothing at all
is a nationwide movement celebrating the energy, passion and power we have to band together and wipe out heart disease. Too few people realize that heart disease is the No. 1 killer of women - and of men - but the good news is that heart disease can largely be prevented. Spreading the Go Red For Women message empowers women to love - and save - their hearts through lifestyle choices and actions.
National Wear Red Day is Friday, February 3, 2006. On this day, millions of Americans will be wearing red to show their support for women and the fight against heart disease. By wearing red on National Wear Red Day, you can help the American Heart Association raise awareness of heart disease and inspire women to take charge of their heart health.
If there were no words No way to speak I would still hear you
If there were no tears No way to feel inside I'd still feel for you
And even if the sun refuse to shine Even if romance ran out of rhyme You would still have my heart Until the end of time You're all i need My love, my valentine
All of my life I have been waiting for All you give to me You've opened my eyes And showed me how to love unselfishly
I've dreamed of this a thousand times before In my dreams i couldnt love you more I will give you my heart Until the end of time You're all i need My love, my valentine
La da da Da da da da
And even if the sun refuse to shine Even if romance ran out of rhyme You would still have my heart Until the end of time Cuz all i need Is you, my valentine
[Christine (Tarja):] In sleep he sang to me, in dreams he came, that voice which calls to me, and speaks my name. And do I dream again? For now I find the phantom of the opera is there inside my mind.
[Phantom (Marco):] Sing once again with me our strange duet; my power over you grows stronger yet. And though you turn from me to glance behind, the phantom of the opera is there inside your mind.
[Christine (Tarja):] Those who have seen your face draw back in fear. I am the mask you wear,
[Phantom (Marco):] It's me they hear.
[Christine (Tarja) & Phantom (Marco):] Your spirit and my voice in one combined; the phantom of the opera is there inside (Tarja)my (Marco)your mind. [Voices:] He's there the phantom of the opera. Beware the phantom of the opera.
[Phantom (Marco):] In all your fantasies, you always knew that man and mystery
[Christine (Tarja):] were both in you.
[Christine (Tarja) & Phantom (Marco):] And in this labyrinth where night is blind, the Phantom of the opera is here inside (Tarja)my (Marco)your mind.
Women who eat a lot of fish during pregnancy, or even as little as a single serving of a highly contaminated fish, can expose their developing child to excessive levels of mercury. The toxic metal can cross the placenta to harm the rapidly developing nervous system, including the brain.
Nearly all fish and shellfish contain traces of mercury. For most people, the risk from mercury by eating fish and shellfish is not a health concern. Yet, some fish and shellfish contain higher levels of mercury that may harm an unborn baby or young child's developing nervous system. The risks from mercury in fish and shellfish depend on the amount of fish and shellfish eaten and the levels of mercury in the fish and shellfish. Therefore, the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) and the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) are advising women who may become pregnant, pregnant women, nursing mothers, and young children to avoid some types of fish and eat fish and shellfish that are lower in mercury.
My doctor recommended that I avoid all fish during my pregnancy, just to be on the safe side. After all, nine months isn't that long to go without.
Guess no Red Lobster for my birthday this year, and grilled cheeses and cheese pizza during Lent.
Candles can create Toxic Emissions Moms-to-be & Children should avoid.
With the current "candle-craze" & increased candle burning in homes expectant Moms need to be aware of the fact that the emissions from some candles are toxic, reproductive toxins, neuro-toxins &/or carcinogens. This has been a growing cause for concern for the EPA and children's health agencies. Funding has been recently appropriated from the National Institute of health to test & evaluate levels of emissions from scented candles. Levels of these toxic VOC & PAH compounds can quickly rise inside a home to a level that poses a danger to you and your unborn baby just from burning a few candles at a time. Some candles have been confirmed to contain substantial quantities of lead in the wicks which release as very small airborne particles when the candle is burned. The size of these fine particles is such that they can be inhaled & because of their minute size are absorbed into the bloodstream exposing both of you to a very harmful cumulative toxin. The prudent thing to do would be to refrain from candle burning during pregnancy; however, if you can't resist the urge to "light-up" burn only unscented 100% beeswax candles - they contain no synthetic ingredients.
I love to burn candles,so this will be very hard for me,although,at the moment, all the fancy sents make me feel sick anyway.
All babies use their hands to communicate before they can speak, such as waving bye-bye and clapping. Research shows that babies can learn to communicate using sign language as early as ten months old, well before their vocal capacity to formulate spoken words is developed.
Sign language gives babies and parents an effective way to communicate at an early age, reducing frustration for both and creating a special bond that is so important for healthy child development.
Babies who use sign language tend to speak sooner with larger vocabularies, show an increase in IQ scores and engage in more sophisticated play. Preverbal signing has also been shown to reduce the frustration broadly associated with “the terrible twos.”
A woman goes to her doctor who verifies that she is pregnant. This is her first pregnancy. The doctor asks her if she has any questions. She replies, "Well, I'm a little worried about the pain. How much will childbirth hurt?" The doctor answered, "Well, that varies from woman to woman and pregnancy to pregnancy and besides, it's difficult to describe pain." "I know, but can't you give me some idea?," she asks. "Grab your upper lip and pull it out a little..." "Like this?" "A little more..." "Like this?" "No. A little more..." "Like this?" "Yes. Does that hurt?" "A little bit." "Now stretch it over your head!"
As it turns out, most babies are born with blue eyes (perhaps this explains the phrase "baby blues").The transformation has to do with the protein melanin. Melanin is a brownish pigment that adds color to your hair, eyes, and skin. At the time babies are born, melanin hasn't yet been "deposited" in the eyes' iris. Hence, they appear blue.
After about six months, eyes change color depending on the amount of melanin. If you have a lot of it, your eyes will turn brown or black. If you have little, they'll stay blue. And if you have no melanin, your eyes may appear pink.
